Housekeeping= Hospitality?
There is a myth that people think the hospitality equal to housekeeping.
Is this true?
Of cause no!
There are some department that need to be in a good hotel:
1. Housekeeping Department
Okay, I didn't say any sentences that one hotel can be a successful hotel without housekeeping!!
The housekeeping department is one the important heart in a hotel. They are responsible for taking care and upkeep all of guest rooms and public spaces in order to maintain the hotel's hygiene.
Training have to be given to the staff who are responsible to housekeeping.
This is because training can train a staff to be sensitive of details and make sure the hygiene in the hotel since the service and cleanliness of hotel make it competitive in the industry.
2. Technical Department
This department is responsible to repair and maintain the plant and machinery, water treatment and distribution, boilers and water heating system, sewage treatment, external and common area lighting, fountains and water features, etc.
This is important department in hotel to make sure to gain the satisfaction of customers. For example, customers could not shower with water heater, and hotel can immediately assign a technician to fix the problem. At the end, problem become satisfaction star!!
3. Front Office Department
The front office is the core center of hotel where the customers first engage with hotel. The staffs who work in front office must be welcoming, friendly, efficient and effective.
The job scope of front office includes:
- Register the guest (Check in/ Check out)
- Arrange the correct guest room
- Receive calls if the guest need
- Answer questions about the activities in hotel and surrounding area
Accounting department handle all the financial transaction in the hotel, including:
- Customer invoices
- Account receivable and payable monitoring and collections
- Budgeting report
- Financial analysis
- Audit and taxes
Human resource department (HR) is the one department which responsible to the administration and operation of all activities, especially staff in hotel. The HR department is suggested to promote transparency and openness in organizational communication.
6. Security department
Security department, obviously is to protect the guests and staff in hotel. Their job scopes are to provide the best security to guest. When the guests feel secure, the satisfaction level will be increased.
Job Responsibility:
- Patrolling
- Monitoring CCTV
- Investigating
Food and Beverage Department (F&B) is providing the food and beverage service such as cafe, restaurants, bar to the customer inside the hotel. The condition and environment of restaurant could be added mark for the customer satisfaction.
The quality of the food and beverage in the hotel is influencing the satisfaction of customers, too. This quality of the food can be judged in term of:
- Appearance
- Taste
- Hygiene
